who s laughing now

Mayday Parade

I remember an awkward kid
Thin-skinned, feeling sick
High school is hell for the sensitive
Scared to death of being hit
It didn t matter when my face met your first
An easy target for narcissists
Like you, like you, like you

To those who never believed in me
Another source for my anxiety
Cut out, pound for pound
Who s laughing, who s laughing now?
Somewhere there s a light that s mine
It s ok, a kid can fantasize
It s such a shame
Of all the days to have your pretty
white teeth knocked from out of your face
Without a doubt you ll never open your mouth
Good thing that yours is a voice I can live without
Who s laughing, who s laughing now?

I guess the more things change, the more they stay the same
There will be always be sadistic
parasitic fucks that prey on those just trying
to make it through the day
And what we learned from youth, a cycle of abuse
But who cares to rationalize
Let s gouge out their eyes
Be strong for the first time

To those who never believed in me
Another source for my anxiety
Cut out, pound for pound
Who s laughing, who s laughing now?
Somewhere there s a light that s mine
It s ok, a kid can fantasize
It s such a shame
Of all the days to have your pretty
white teeth knocked from out of your face
Without a doubt you ll never open your mouth
Good thing that yours is a voice I can live without
Who s laughing, who s laughing now?

That got so violent, nihilistic silence
Of everyday monsters that we make
That would burn their homes just to feel
the warmth of flames
Begged them to stop it
Locked in the closet
With the lights turned off
Said you wouldn t cry but your stomach s tight
Oh God
And your face feels hot

To those who never believed in me
Another source for my anxiety
Cut out, pound for pound
Who s laughing, who s laughing now?
Somewhere there s a light that s mine
It s ok, a kid can fantasize
It s such a shame
Of all the days to have your pretty
white teeth knocked from out of your face
Without a doubt you ll never open your mouth
Good thing that yours is a voice I can live without
Who s laughing, who s laughing now?

Begged them to stop it
Locked in the closet
With the lights turned off
Said you wouldn t cry but your stomach s tight
Oh God
And your face feels hot
