I Don't Care That You Don't Mind

I said, "I'm drinkin' up.
Would you like a belt yerself?"
You said, "Thanks, but no thanks,
I don't drink, myself.
But you go right ahead, my friend,
I'm not the sort that minds."

"That's good to hear," I said
"Because I think you'll find
that I don't care that you don't mind."

I said, "I'm lightin' up.
Would you like a puff?"
You said, "Thanks, but no thanks,
I don't do that stuff.
But you go right ahead, my friend,
I'm not the sort that minds."

"That's good to hear," I said
"Because I think you'll find
that I don't care that you don't mind."

I said "Let's do the nasty,
I like it when it's rough."
You said, "Well, I'm not so sure
I like that kind of stuff.
But I'll roll over just for you
And take it from behind."

"That's good to hear," I said
"Because I think you'll find
that I don't care that you don't mind."

On And On

Come with me down this ol' road
Where I got stuck and later towed
Listen to the sound of the falling rain
We just might end up stuck again

The little bird can sing and sing
The little bird knows everything
But the little bird don't bother with song
He knows that it just goes on and on and on and on

Climb up in this tree with me
The branches are big and there's plenty to see
Listen to the sound of the blowin' leaves
Feel that breeze goin' through your sleeves

The little bird can sing and sing
The little bird knows everything
But the little bird don't bother with song
He knows that it just goes on and on and on and on

Don't go followin' me no more
I'm sick of your face at my back door
Don't you listen to the bird in your head
Just remember what I said

The little bird can sing and sing
The little bird knows everything
But the little bird don't bother with song
He knows that it just goes on and on and on and on and on

Come with me down this ol' road
Where I got stuck and later towed
Listen to the sound of the falling rain
We just might end up stuck again...

The Day We Never Met

I thought of you and made believe
Until I made you real
You played with me
You stayed with me
And knew just what I'd feel

The lips I never kissed
Are lips I can't forget
The dress you never wore
On the day we never met
The name I never whispered
As it echoed in my mind
The man I never was
The sweet thing that's not mine

I drink to you and toast your name
A name that I don't know
I think of you and see a face
A face that never shows

The lips I never kissed
Are lips I can't forget
The dress you never wore
On the day we never met
The name I never whispered
As it echoed in my mind
The man I never was
The sweet thing that's not mine

The lights are out, the moon is up
I'm calling out my plea
But all I hear is my own voice
Echo back to me

The lips I never kissed
Are lips I can't forget
The dress you never wore
On the day we never met
The name I never whispered
As it echoed in my mind
The man I never was
The sweet thing that's not mine

Let It Feel Like Something Else

Rise up on your feet again
Wake yourself from your sleep
Seems it never ever ends
Like an ocean cold and deep

Let it feel like something else
Let it be a breeze
Let me be like someone else
With something else to see

Out here on the sea again
The waves are rolling high
The stowaways are laughing
And the children want to cry

Let it feel like something else
Let it be a breeze
Let me be like someone else
With something else to see

Deep inside this dream again
And searching for the tracks
Sitting by that window then,
Where now you can't go back...

Let it feel like something else
Let it be a breeze
Let me be like someone else
With something else to see

Little Secret

Just don't tell the things you know
Never show the things you see
Let's keep this little secret with you and me

First come outside here with me
I know it's night, but I can see -
That's right, step out, take my hand
And I'll help to make you understand

Just don't tell the things you know
Never show the things you see
Let's keep this little secret with you and me
Let's keep this little secret with you and me

I like nights when there's no moon
I like suckin' on snakebite wounds
I like thinkin' bout you and me
Twined up in the grass by the apple tree

Just don't tell the things you know
Never show the things you see
Let's keep this little secret with you and me
Let's keep this little secret with you and me

Bite my lip and make it bleed
My heart is running twice the speed
If you wanna know just how I feel
Listen to the sound of my spinnin' wheels

Just don't tell the things you know
Never show the things you see
Let's keep this little secret with you and me
Let's keep this little secret with you and me

Sittin' On A Tree Stump

Listen to the grass that's out there blowin'
Look at that tractor just there sittin'
It's my name that the bottle's callin'
Listen to the goddamn song I'm singin'

Drink your wine, listen to the crickets
It's so fine out here in the thickets
Sittin' on a tree stump, that's the ticket, uh-huh

Look at that doggy sittin' on the stairs
Look at that star shinin' way up there
Think of all the things that they're doin' in jail
Think of all the rich ones out on bail

Drink your wine, listen to the crickets
It's so fine out here in the thickets
Sittin' on a tree stump, that's the ticket, uh-huh

Look at the TV, it's all crappy
Look at the bald spot on yer pappy
Listen to his wheatfield out there blowin'
Hope its doin' better than his hair at growin'

Drink your wine, listen to the crickets
It's so fine out here in the thickets
Sittin' on a tree stump, that's the ticket, uh-huh
