tony s soup

Malvina Reynolds

And have you eaten Tony's soup
And are you brave and tough?
And have you eaten Tony's soup,
It is the lovely stuff.
It's simply made with split peas boiled,
With onions or with leeks,
It puts the frizzles in your hair,
The roses in your cheeks.

Chorus:
The soup would float a stone,
The ladle stands alone,
Come fill your bowl and cheer your soul,
There's soup for everyone.

There is a house on Parker Street
They call The Submarine.
There's music in the record box
And pictures on the screen.
And when the daily work is done,
There comes a noble troop,
To fill their head and eat their bread,
And feed on Tony's soup.

(Chorus)

And have you eaten Tony's soup?
Tony's soup is green.
We poured it in the Haviland,
It busted the tureen.
We don't know if it's soup or stew
Or if it's dry or wet.
But when you've eaten Tony's soup
You know that you have et.

(Chorus)

The neighbors smell the great perfume,
They come from near and far,
And each one brings his iron spoon
To beat upon the door,
And when they've eaten soup enough,
They sing a song of praise,
Cause when you've eaten Tony's soup
You needn't eat for days.

(Chorus)

And have you eaten Tony's soup
And are you brave and tough?
And have you eaten Tony's soup,
It is the lovely stuff.
It's simply made with split peas boiled,
With onions or with leeks,
It puts the frizzles in your hair,
The roses in your cheeks.
