blue eyes

Dermot Kennedy

Blue eyes, never gonna leave me
My true prize is laughter in this house
Some nights, barely even breathing
I d do anything to keep the cold out
Will I stay above the water?
And will I go another round?
These eyes, here amongst the garden
I m getting tired of getting knocked down

I m haunting, I m haunting you now
I m haunting, I m haunting you now
I m haunting, I m haunting you
I m getting tired of getting knocked down

Some guys could walk beside the Caesars
And some guys look better with the clowns
Some guys want nothing more than freedom
I was anything but free in that town
Some lives are painted with a purpose
And some lives are faded when they re found
My life falls in and out of worthless
I had dreams that I was making you proud

The pain ain t got me figured out just yet
There s a song left to be sung
I had a dream that I just can t forget
Where hard times never come
Cause I m not worthy of a love like this
It s meant for better men than I
Those winter nights, you know how dark it gets
Still, the light don t leave blue eyes
How could I deserve someone like you?
Maybe in a past life, I was someone better,
And you re proof
Only thing I ve learned,
If a storm s coming through
You ll always be my strong side,
No one holds me through the night like you do

So, till the grass grows up around us
And our souls are close to breaking free
My love will be just how you found it
As weathered and as strong as tall trees
Some lives are painted with a purpose
And some lives are faded when they re found
My life falls in and out of worthless
I had dreams that I was making you proud

I m haunting, I m haunting you now
I m haunting, I m haunting you now
I m haunting, I m haunting you
I m getting tired of getting knocked down
